In short

It was issued after an audit by IQR Uluslararası Belgelendirme Hizmetleri, a certification body in Türkiye, under number QMS-0114520; the clinic was first certified on 12 December 2023. What is ISO 9001:2015?

ISO 9001 is the quality management system standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO); 2015 refers to the version of the standard. It does not describe how a particular treatment should be carried out. Instead, it describes how an organisation manages its work. For a dental clinic, this broadly means:

  • Work is carried out through defined processes, with clear responsibilities
  • The necessary records are kept
  • Patient satisfaction, feedback and complaints are monitored and reviewed
  • When something goes wrong, the cause is investigated and corrected
  • The system is improved through regular internal audits and management reviews

Who issues the certificate?

ISO writes the standard but does not issue certificates. Certificates are issued by independent certification bodies after an on-site audit. Our clinic’s certificate was issued after an audit by IQR Uluslararası Belgelendirme Hizmetleri.

From ISO’s point of view, accreditation of the certification body is not compulsory. Our certificate carries the accreditation mark of IAS (International Accreditation Service).

What does the certificate cover?

The certificate lists the services to which the quality management system applies. Dental implant treatment, aesthetic dentistry and orthodontic treatment are included.

What it means for you, and what it does not

The ISO 9001 certificate shows that the clinic has a management system that runs its work through defined processes and has those processes audited externally. Your feedback and complaints are part of this system.

The certificate does not show:

  • The outcome of a treatment. Every patient is different, and treatment is planned after an examination.
  • The clinical skills of individual dentists. You can read about our dentists’ training on the Our dentists page.
  • Legal authorisation. The clinic operates under an operating licence from the Sakarya Provincial Health Directorate and holds the International Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health (certificate no. ST-4374). ISO 9001 is a separate, voluntary certificate.

How is the certificate maintained?

An ISO 9001 certificate is not a one-off. During the certification period, the certification body carries out surveillance audits, usually once a year. At the end of the three-year period, a recertification audit is needed for the certificate to continue. If an audit finds a nonconformity, it has to be corrected.

Frequently asked questions

Does an ISO 9001 certificate mean my treatment will be successful?

No. ISO 9001 assesses the system the clinic uses to manage its work; it does not promise the outcome of an individual treatment. How a treatment goes depends on your oral and general health, the treatment plan and aftercare.

Was the certificate issued by ISO?

No. ISO is the international organisation that writes the standard, and it does not issue certificates. The certificate was issued by the independent certification body that audited the clinic, IQR Uluslararası Belgelendirme Hizmetleri.

How can I check that the certificate is genuine?

You can see the original certificate at the clinic. The certificate number is QMS-0114520, and you can ask the certification body, IQR, about its status using this number.

Is ISO 9001 the same as the clinic's licence?

No. A licence from the health authorities is a legal requirement for a clinic to operate. ISO 9001 is a voluntary management system standard that the clinic chooses to follow and have audited; it does not replace the licence.
