Dental implants in Türkiye: what determines the cost?

In short

The cost of dental implants depends on the number of implants, any bone grafting or sinus lift, the type of teeth fitted on them, extractions and temporary teeth, CBCT planning and the implant system. The number of trips and aftercare arrangements come on top. Only a written treatment and cost plan after an examination and CBCT scan is reliable.

Which factors determine the cost of dental implants?

We do not publish prices on our website, because “dental implant” can describe very different treatments: from replacing a single tooth to restoring a whole jaw. The items only become clear after the examination:

Factor Why it affects the cost
Number of implants Each implant needs its own site, its own implant and its own connecting part (abutment)
Bone grafting or sinus lift Additional surgery and material, sometimes in a separate session and with a separate trip
Type of teeth on the implants A single crown, a bridge or a denture on implants differ in work and material
Extractions Teeth that have to be removed are a separate item in the plan
Temporary teeth Whether you need temporary teeth for the healing period
CBCT scan and planning A 3D image of the jaw and the planning of implant positions
Implant system The make and model of the implant are part of the plan
Trips and stays For treatment abroad: number of trips, transfer and accommodation

The Oral Health Foundation recommends getting a clear treatment plan that explains each step and the costs before implant treatment starts.

How do bone grafting, a sinus lift and extractions affect the plan?

If there is enough bone, the implant can be placed without grafting; otherwise the bone has to be built up. According to the patient information from Cambridge University Hospitals, a small graft can be done at the same time as the implant, while a larger graft is carried out as a separate procedure at least four months before the implant. Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust says bone grafting can add four to six months to treatment. Grafting therefore means additional material, an additional procedure and possibly an additional trip.

If the bone height in the back of the upper jaw is not enough because of the sinus, a sinus lift may be needed; see our guides on the sinus lift and bone grafting before implants. If a tooth still has to be removed in the implant area, a tooth extraction is added as an item. Whether these steps are needed is shown only by the examination and CBCT scan.

Why does the type of teeth on the implants matter so much?

The implant is the artificial root in the bone; what you see is the tooth or teeth fitted on it. Their type is a major part of the cost:

  • Single crown: One missing tooth is replaced with one implant and one crown.
  • Bridge on implants: Several neighbouring missing teeth can be carried on fewer implants than teeth.
  • Teeth for a whole jaw: If all teeth are missing, options are a fixed bridge on four or six implants or a removable denture that clips onto implants. According to Leeds Teaching Hospitals, the removable version can be taken out for cleaning, while a fixed bridge cannot be removed by the patient.

The material, the abutment and whether the teeth are screw-retained or cemented also go into the plan. How many implants each option needs is explained in our guide How many implants do you need?; the differences between a fixed bridge and a denture are on our pages full-arch implants and implant-supported dentures.

Why do the CBCT scan and planning come first?

According to the patient leaflet from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an X-ray examination that produces a 3D image of the teeth and jaws and is used particularly for implant planning; the radiation dose is higher than for a standard dental X-ray but much lower than for a medical CT scan.

The CBCT scan shows the height and width of the bone and the distance to the nerve canal and the sinus. From this follow the number and position of the implants and the need for grafting, that is, most of the items that determine the cost.

What role does the implant system play?

Implant systems from different manufacturers differ in design, surface and components. Which system is suitable is recommended by your dentist according to your bone, the position and the planned teeth.

Because of Turkish regulations on advertising in health services, we do not name implant brands on our website. The make and model are stated in your written treatment and cost plan, and after treatment you receive an implant card carrying the manufacturer’s official label for each implant, with details such as diameter, length and batch number, which your dentist at home needs if a component ever has to be replaced.

Which additional items arise for treatment in Türkiye?

The General Dental Council (GDC) suggests asking who pays for extra flights, hotel and remedial work, and whether further treatment for complications is included in the initial cost. Implants usually need two stays several months apart; bone grafting or a sinus lift can mean a further trip. How the stays are structured is explained in our guide How many days do I need in Türkiye for dental implants?.

At Rönesans, transfer from Istanbul’s airports and accommodation in Sapanca are included in the treatment fee. Before you book your flights, we take a deposit, which is deducted from the treatment fee. Ask any clinic which of these items are included and what happens if a correction requires another trip; with us, if a correction covered by our warranty requires a return visit, we cover your travel costs.

Why is a reliable cost only available after the examination?

Whether grafting is needed, how many implants will be placed and which teeth are planned cannot be said without an examination and CBCT scan. A figure given before the examination is therefore only an estimate that can change.

The GDC’s standards for dental professionals require that patients receive a written treatment plan before treatment starts, with the proposed treatment and a realistic estimate of the cost; if the plan changes during treatment, the dentist must inform the patient immediately and provide an updated written plan. The GDC also advises that you should always be assessed by a qualified dentist before being given a treatment plan and cost estimate.

What should you look for when comparing written plans?

Compare offers not only by the total but by whether they cover the same scope. Check in the written plan:

  1. Examination and imaging: Are the examination and CBCT scan included?
  2. Implants: How many, in which positions, with make and model?
  3. Additional surgery: Are bone grafting, a sinus lift or extractions listed as separate items?
  4. Teeth: Are abutments and crowns, bridge or denture included, and is the material named?
  5. Temporary teeth: Are temporary teeth planned for the healing period?
  6. Check-ups and aftercare: Are stitch removal, healing checks and check-ups after the final teeth included, and where do they take place?
  7. Trips: How many stays are planned, and are transfer and accommodation included?
  8. Warranty: What is covered, for how long, what is excluded, and who pays travel costs for a correction? The GDC recommends that patients are told whether a warranty exists and on what terms.
  9. Breakdown: Are unit prices and the total shown separately?

How is the cost plan prepared at Rönesans?

Planning starts with the examination at our clinic in Serdivan and a CBCT scan. We carry out bone grafting and sinus lifts at the clinic, and depending on your case you receive temporary teeth for the healing period. Before treatment begins, you receive a written treatment and cost plan that names the planned treatment for each tooth and the unit and total costs; the make and model of the implants are in it. Our treatments come with a conditional warranty for problems not caused by the patient; we explain its duration, scope and exclusions before treatment starts. For a preliminary assessment, send photos and any existing X-rays on WhatsApp to +90 532 363 49 54; during working hours we reply in English within 15 minutes. Frequently asked questions

Can I get the cost on WhatsApp or by phone before I travel?

You can get a preliminary assessment of the likely steps and options. How much bone you have, whether grafting is needed and which type of teeth is suitable only become clear at the examination and CBCT scan, so a reliable figure cannot be given this way. The cost follows from the written treatment and cost plan after the examination.

Can the cost change during treatment?

The written plan is based on the examination and CBCT scan. Even so, it can turn out during surgery that, for example, more bone grafting is needed than planned. In that case, ask for the reason and for an updated written plan. The General Dental Council's standards require dentists to tell you immediately if the plan or cost changes.

Will the NHS or my insurer pay towards implants in Türkiye?

The NHS treatment abroad checklist states that you cannot get reimbursement for dental treatment abroad. Private dental or travel insurance varies, so check with your insurer before you book whether it contributes to planned treatment abroad, whether complications are covered and which documents it needs, such as an itemised invoice.

Does every missing tooth need its own implant?

No. Several neighbouring missing teeth can often be replaced with a bridge on fewer implants, and for a jaw with no teeth, four to six implants are usually enough for fixed teeth. The number of implants is one of the main cost factors and is set at the examination according to your bone and the planned teeth.

Are check-ups and aftercare included in the cost?

Every clinic handles this differently. Ask whether the written plan includes stitch removal, healing checks and the check-ups after the final teeth are fitted, and where they take place. With us, follow-up follows a defined process and questions after your return are answered on WhatsApp; the details are discussed at your examination.
